Wolf King Prologue by Aidan Danforth

The medieval world is a land of opportunity and power. Within that land lies many conflicts, both internal and external, that can result in the rise or fall for anyone who wishes to change their world. The unknown land of “The Wolf King” houses ten provinces, each housed by one lord whose task is to provide a good life for their family in order to continue their line of succession. There is a power that the provinces bow down to known as the Capital where the king resides. The ten family names: (Danforth, Cupbell, Arnold, Hawkins, Braxton, Martell, Allister, Connors, Erikson, Nastar). There is also the Heinrichs who currently hold the crown and the Capital. The king of the Capital has earned his position of power either through choice of the lords or through great battles in which they are victorious and have the right to claim the throne. This man is also known as God’s chosen leader who is tasked with serving the people of the land, taking on the responsibilities of a king, and swearing to take down any threat who wishes to disrupt the peace. However, this story centers around the oldest family in all the provinces known as the Danforth’s. The Danforth’s have been in power for hundreds of years and have always been known for their skill on the battlefield, their way of words, and the value of honoring their family name. The Danforth’s rule a province by the name of Greenville, which is known for its great docks and structure. Although a likable family among most of the kingdom’s lords, some tend to dislike the Danforth’s partly due to their involvement in the Wolf War. Long ago a group of people known as the Wolves ruled the Capital, but one day humans revolted against the Wolves and pushed them to the Eastern Mountains. A family known as the Heinrichs have had power in the Capital since. At the moment, the Wolves current state is unknown despite several search attempts. The Danforth’s were allies of these Wolves and tried to fight the revolutionary Heinrich’s during the war. Despite their treason against the land, Lord Robert Danforth used his words in order to strike a deal with the Capital. However, the Danforth’s still kept in touch with the Wolves thanks to their Wolf Form which allowed them to travel the Eastern Mountains. The Wolf Form is a rare ability which allows some to transform into the beast known as a wolf by saying Wolf Form in an ancient language. The Danforth’s had ancestry connections to the Wolf Form, which is why most of them have this gift. However, in the deal struck with the Heinrichs, the Danforth’s swore to remove the Wolf Form from future heirs. But Robert only did that for one of his children (Richard) and kept the form in his second child (Robert). In the present day, the Danforth kingdom of Greenville is ruled by John Danforth who is married to a woman named Claire. John and Claire have four children; Harrison, William, Aidan, and Isabella. The first episode takes place months after a horrible plague that ravaged the land and wiped out many men, women, and children, including the Capital king’s wife and son. Now, the Capital has no heir, and with the king having no plans to remarry, this presents an opportunity to some of the province lords, including John Danforth.
