We were not “meant” to be together.
Fuck that notion.

I rage against the thought
That our love was, somehow,
Written in the stars.
The stars look cold and far away.

We are warm,
We are here.

I love you because I wanted to.
I staked out my claim on your flesh
With my own flag, in my own hands.
We were the force that bound me to you,

Not some plan or
Inscrutable machination.

The garden of our love blooms
Because we fucking tended it,
And if there’s a brand on my heart
Then you burned it there yourself.
